Roads
Salerno is connected to the A3 motorway (part of European Route E45) and is the northern end of its longest route, the Salerno-Reggio Calabria; Moreover, through the RA02 motorway Salerno-Avellino, you can reach the motorways A30 and A16. The city is crossed by the SS 18 Tirrena Lower and part of the route is the city ring.

Railways
The city has four railway stations, three of which are reserved for regional transport. The main railway station is instead a place of transit and departure for trains towards South-South and North-South and along the Tyrrhenian along the Battipaglia-Potenza-Metaponto. It was completed in June 2008, also the connection with the high-speed line Turin-Milan-Rome-Naples

The station is also the terminus of many of the city bus lines.
With regard to regional airports, the station of Via Duomo-Hand wheels is on the line for Naples, while on the line for Mercato San Severino there are the stations of Salerno Irno, to that of Fratte Fratte and Villa Comunale.
Since 2012, the station is Salerno Hub for Southern Italian train company
Ports
The port of Salerno is one of the busiest in the Mediterranean. It handles about 10 million tonnes of cargo per year, of which 60% consists of container.
Freight transport by sea consists basically of container vessels and the type Roll-on / Roll-off, the main routes are to and from Malta, Tunis, Cagliari, Palermo, Messina, Valencia and Termini Imerese. Under this type of traffic also fit passenger services falling within the circuit of the Motorways of the Sea. It is also an important base for vessels fishing for tuna in the Mediterranean, while the cruise industry is in strong development, the construction of the marine station will have the important objective of providing and coordinating a range of services related to the growth of the cruise traffic.
Airports
The airport of Salerno Pontecagnano-called Salerno Costa d’Amalfi is located in the municipalities of Bellizzi and Faiano, and is about 12 km from the city. Its ICAO airport code is LIRI, while IATA is QSR. In January 2013 the airport was included in the “National Plan for the Airport Development” between 31 airports in the national interest.
